Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (FOBMS), to partner with the insurance Training College(ITC)

On March 15 2022, FoBMs hosted a team from ITC, to share with students the different services they offer, and how best they can be applied in their career development.  According to the Principal.  Mr. Saul Sseremba, insurance policies are always misunderstood notwithstanding its reputation has been destroyed by a few partners who are not honest to their clients with a lot of unethical values causing a bias to the public about insurance Policies.

He added that this can be restored by engaging the future generation and phasing out of the unprofessional and unethical persons in the field of insurance, thus engaging University students the future employer and employees.

The Academic Registrar of ITC  Mrs. Sylvia Mwebesa Kajubi, Shared their different programmes and urged the MUST community to apply in relation to their future careers. Syliva added that some programme  entry requirments  are as low as O’level certificate. She added that 90% of companies  today need a person with a qualification in insurance thus garanteed employment for those who take up the courses. The programmes included:

The Dean of FoBMs   Dr. Fredrick Nsambu Kijjambu thanked the team for coming to MUST, he said MUST and ITC have an MOU and that the launch of the club was within the law.

In his remarks the Dean said insurance is collective effort to mitigate challenges at any level. He added that communities do practice insurance in their own perception. He sighted groups like the niggiina  in the communities and the batakatwezikye.   “These are the best forms of insurance one can think of but when it comes to asking the public to enroll for the different insurance policies, these shy away due to the information gap within and the unprofessionalism of some insurance companies, thus the visit of ITC is timely,” said Fredrick.

He pledged his support to the launched club at MUST, and urged the members to take up the programmes for adequate  knowledge and information, which can be disseminated  to the public. He also thanked ITC for tuition waver for MUST students.

The principal Mr. Saul was impressed with the most active student during the meeting and offered a scholarship. Mr. Herbert Amanya BAF III was given a chance to choose a programme of his choice at the insurance Training College. The event was moderated By Mr. John Bosco Nsengiyumva a lecturer in the FoBMs, Department of Accounting and Finance lecturing Investment Analysis, Banking and Corporate Finance
