Message from The Senior Security Officer

“Mindful that the University’s core mandate is teaching, research and community outreach, the University security section offers a support function that those core activities are carried out in a safe and secure environment. When we talk about security in a University environment, we look at two broad categories, general and personal security. Therefore as the university strives to ensure that the learning environment is safe, individuals ranging from students, staff to all stakeholders have to ensure maximum personal security of self and property. Basic security precautions;
•Ensure high levels of neighborhood watch
•Practice powers of observation
•Ensure Property marking for easy identification
•Avoid moving alone at night
•Avoid risky places and risky situation.
•Differentiate and be keen on differentiating usual from unusual situations.
•Avail information concerning insecurity to the relevant offices including security, faculty administrators and police.
•Where possible attend basic security training for your personal security and self-defense. “
