Our Top Services

Network and Connectivity Access

Access for students and staff to LAN and internet services is provided through cabled internet services in Staff offices and Student Computer rooms and labs and through the university’s Wireless network cloud for both staff and students using the university’s active directory usernames and passwords.

University Web Domain Services

The university’s web presence on the World Wide Web is managed through the main university website as well as a number of other websites for faculties, institutes and departments under the university’s web domain of must.ac.ug

Mail

Staff and students are provided  access to the university’s official Mailing platform accessible via http://webmail.must.ac.ug

All staff at the university are entitled to this email address and are expected to use it for university related email communication. Inquiries for this may be forwarded to helpdesk@must.ac.ug

Students are provided with a university email address forever as a communication link with the university even after completion of their studies at MUST

eLearning Web Platform

Access is provided to all students and staff to the university’s web-based elearning management platform to enable the online interactively of lecturers and students. Lecturers are able to share academic content with students, provide simple assessment tools and continuously engage with students via https://lms.must.ac.ug

Servers and Data

Computing Services provides university departments and research initiatives access to a number of server related services which include;

  • Webhosting
  • DNS services
  • Data Backup

IT Help Desk

The unit provides a help desk facility: faults are either resolved immediately or recorded and made available to the appropriate staff. The Help Desk also disseminates information that could be useful to users like virus alert messages.

Consultation and Project Management Services

The unit provides consultancy and advice on IT Project Strategy and implementation for University Departments and external organisations associated with the University.

In addition the unit provides Purchasing Support, Business Continuity and Resilience strategy development, and watch for new technologies.

Student ICT Computing Facilities

The university currently has a number computer rooms spread out across the different faculties/institutes and the library. The rooms collectively provide internet connected computers for students access. The unit periodically services, maintains, upgrades and repairs the facilities in these labs. The unit evaluates software application proposals in conjunction with teaching and academic staff. There is an annual update of software in Labs to agreed timetable, including consultation. The team also manages software site licenses for the University. This is addition to the several personal laptops, mobile and handheld devices which students use through access to the university’s wireless internet service
