Every year in March, a team of doctors from Medlend medical mission USA together with the MUST team from Obstetrics and Gynecology department hold Camp to address gyneclogical disorders which include urogynecology conditions like pelvic Organ Prolaspse, developmental abnormalities of the reproductive system and also advanced surgery for gynecological cancers.
This year, the camp started febuary 28 – March 4 2022. According to Head of department, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Musa Kayondo, a total of 33 patients received sugery of the different gyn disorders. He added that this was a number less than the previous year (50 patients in 2021). He added that most of the women had stool and urine incontinence due to fistula which developed following child birth. These were repaired, monitored and reviewed before discharge.
According to Musa, the department holds at least 3 camps a year, and that the camp is now mobile to other parts of the country such as in Lira hospital, Nakaseke hospital among others, to help out women with different gyneclogical problems
He was grateful to the Medlend medical mission USA team for always supporting the department in different aspects so as to sustain their growth and development which in the longrun improves the life of women the mothers of the nation. To the MUST team Dr. Musa was indeeded thankful to their teamwork and selflessnes.
The Team is always joined by Dr. Joseph Njagi an obstetrician-gynecologist(OBSGYN) and a Laparoscopic surgeon based in Kenya.
