ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC YEAR 2025/2026

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES

DEGREE PROGRAMMES

The minimum requirements for admission to any Undergraduate degree programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes.
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes.
  3. Diploma holders must have passed with at least a credit or equivalent.
  4. For Mature Age Entry Scheme, applicant Must be 25 years at the time of application and above and fulfill the Mature Age Entry Scheme requirements of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
  5. Holders of the Higher Education Access Certificate must have passed with a minimum CGPA of 3.60.

 

DIPLOMA PROGRAMME

The minimum requirements for admission to any Diploma programme are:

  1. Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes
  2. Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 1 principal pass and two subsidiary passes.
  3. Certificate holders must have passed with at least a credit or equivalent.
  4. Holders of the Higher Education Access Certificate must have passed with a minimum of a Credit.
  5. For Mature Age Entry Scheme, applicant Must be 25 years at the time of application and above and fulfill the Mature Age Entry Scheme requirements of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

 

INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS

Additionally, for international applicants:

  1. Applicants whose first language or medium of instruction is not English, must provide evidence from a recognized English language training institution that they have sufficient command of English language.
  2. Applicants should have their documents equated by Uganda National Examinations Board for UCE and UACE documents and Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE) for Diploma and Certificate documents.
