Visiting Associate Professor Dr. Sheila Harms from McMaster University

Associate Professor Dr. Sheila Harms is a Training Director for Psychiatry at McMaster University in Hamilton Canada and an Honorary Associate Professor at MUST.

Dr. Harms spearheads the partnership between McMaster University and MUST that is referred to as McMUST, based in the Department of Psychiatry since 2014. MCMUST led by Dr. Godfrey Zaari Rukundo was initiated with the goal of supporting the delivery of teaching and training at MUST as well as providing unique learning opportunities for psychiatry for different systems of care.

Annually, McMaster University faculty and trainees are hosted and paired with MUST residents and teaching is done in formal and informal sessions. The Ugandan trainees and inter-professional staff provide a rich, reciprocal learning environment for McMaster faculty and trainees.

This partnership has provided a beneficial platform to produce well balanced and outstanding trainees.
