Unstoppable: Theo and Annabella new board members for NITA-U

The minister for ICT & National Guidance, Hon. Chris Baryomunsi appointed a new Board of Directors for the National Information Technology Authority-Uganda (NITA-U).

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the new Board, Hon. Baryomunsi said, “Today Digitization and Technology remain central in the transformation of this country.  This is the reason NITA-U was established in 2009 as the lead agency on that frontline and in my view they have performed very well. As the new Board, you have our full support to spearhead the Digital Transformation Drive.”

Among the new members of the Board were our own Prof.  Annabella Habinka Basaza Ejiri, and Dr. Theodora T. Mondo.

This pledge is faithful and bears true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and NITA-U. They also promised to preserve protect and defend the constitution of the Republic of Uganda and all policies, rules, and regulations of NITA-U.

Who is Dr. Theodora T. Mondo

Dr. Mondo is an Industrial Engineer by Profession and a Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Technology.  (FAST) She was the pioneer Dean of the FAST, and the pioneer Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science, the now Faculty of Computing and Informatics. Through this leadership Dr. Theo has mentored a number of staff and students into being great innovators as well as great leaders.

Theo completed an Interdisciplinary PhD in Computing with its application in Industrial Engineering with a research focus in Decision Support Systems in the Manufacturing Sector of Small Medium Scale Enterprises.

Dr. Mondo is an advocate and passionate about Technology innovation and Transfer, Innovative Engineering Education, strengthening Academia – Industry Relations, strengthening Quality Assurance in Higher Education and Women in Science and Technology. Theo is so dedicated that when it comes to chasing goals, she’ll not give up until the goal is attained, said Addah Kyarisiima one of her good friends and colleagues at work.

Prof. Annabella vows to serve NITA-U

Prof. Annabella Habinka Basaza Ejiri is an Associate Professor at MUST Faculty of Computing and Informatics, and an Associate Professor at King Ceasor University.

She is a MUST alumna who joined MUST in October 2001 to pursue a Bachelor of Computer Science and successfully graduated in 2004. She perused her Masters information systems at Makerere University, later perused her PhD in the same field   at University of Gronigen, under the Netherlands Organization for International Co-operation in Higher Education, (NUFFIC).

She is also a former Dean, Faculty of Computing and Informatics at MUST, a Board Member at National Information Technology, Deputy Chairperson at the Science Technology and Innovations – Office of the President (former MoSTI), Associate editor at the East African Journal of Science Technology and Innovations and a Member to the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) regional R&D Grants Sub-Committee. Annabella has been board member of NITA-U for the last 3 years, she is going to serve her second term of office due to her enviable character towards achieving goals.

As the MUST community, we congratulate Annabella and Theo upon the new appointment on the NITA-U board, your  personality and diligence to serve have been your calling cards to these greater heights towards. This has led to outstanding organisations like NITA-U. Thank you for making our alma mater be that yonder star in the region.
