Researchers unveil latest discoveries at the 17th MUST Annual Research Dissemination Conference and PhD Symposium

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) held its 7th PhD Symposium and 17th Annual Research Dissemination Conference (ARDC) on March 21st and 22nd, 2023, respectively.

The events, which were hosted by the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training (DGRT), were centered around the theme of’Maximizing research translation and evidencebased practice in science, technology, and community development.

The 7th PhD symposium attracted over 20 researchers from the fields of Medicine, Allied Health Sciences, Basic and Applied Sciences, Engineering, Computing, Business Management, and Humanities. The Symposium held at MUST‘s Kihumuro Campus, was designed to assist PhD students in receiving valuable feedback from mentors/supervisors.

During the Symposium‘s official opening, Prof. Nixon Kamukama, the Deputy ViceChancellor in Charge of Academic Affairs, praised supervisors for encouraging, supporting, and guiding the PhD students.

Furthermore, he suggested the establishment of PhD clinics to make the students academic journey easier. He further, noted that the Symposium was a way of bringing minds together to discuss academic concerns.

The 17th ARDC had more than 100 researchers disseminating their findings from undergraduate and postgraduate levels in various disciplines.

Prof. Celestino Obua, the Vice Chancellor who was present at the event, thanked the researchers for their efforts and sponsors for their support in making this event a success. He also noted that research is a continuous process and that attending conferences like this one is important to spread results.
