Master of Science in Information Systems (MSc. IS)
The Master of Science in Information Systems (MIS program) offers excitement and challenges for the information age. This program focuses on applying information technology to improve the performance of people in organization. It mainly deals with the management of information systems with focus on a number of areas such as business process management systems, computer security, systems modeling and data management. This program is a two year modular program that runs in weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). The program is taught by staff from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics Sciences. Additionally, staff from industry provides guest lectures to help students visualize the applicability of classroom concepts in the real life of information systems.
Overall Aim
To graduate students who will have knowledge and skills necessary to meet the increasing demand for professionals who can effectively handle the technical, social, and organisational aspects of Information Communication Technology (ICT).
Objectives
The MIS aims to:
- Build human resource capacity in information systems discipline required in both the public and private sectors, especially in universities;
- Address the increasing demand for information systems training at Post graduate degree level;
- Develop professionals with theoretical and practical skills in the ICT sector
