Nursing and Midwifery students clinch victory in Inter-University Quiz

Mbarara University of Science and Technology’s Nursing and Midwifery students emerged victorious at the Inter-University Nursing and Midwifery Students Quiz 2025, held at Bishop Stuart University. The quiz, organized by the Inter-University Nursing and Midwifery Association (INMSA), under the theme “Empowering Nursing and Midwifery Students for Excellence in Professional Practice,” showcased the academic prowess of students from 11 universities. Participating universities included MUST, Bishop Stuart University, Agakhan University, Victoria University, Lira University, Muni University, Soroti University, Makerere University, Busitema University, Islamic University in Uganda, and Kabale University.

The quiz tested students’ knowledge in various categories, including biomedical science, clinical course units, research, practical clinical skills, innovations, and general knowledge. The MUST team, led by SSEMAGANDA TONNY TWAHA, President of Mbarara University Nursing Students Association (MUNSA), with Dr. Atuhaire Catherine as the Patron and Ms. Nabulo Harriet as the Head of Department of Nursing, demonstrated exceptional knowledge and teamwork.

The top ten participants from MUST were:

  1. Ssegirinya Mulushid BNS1
  2. Tidhamulala Isaac BNS 1
  3. Nakalembe Swaburah BNS 2
  4. Mugwanya Edrine BNS 2
  5. Oyesigye Ezra BNS 3
  6. Hipaigba Susan BNS 3
  7. Yuwa Elvis BNS 3
  8. Abonga Wilson BNS 4
  9. Bilibawa Mercy BNS 4
  10. Kawooya Abdallah BNS 4

The final results placed MUST in first place with 120 points, demonstrating the high caliber of its nursing and midwifery students. This victory underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing excellence and promoting patient-centered care.
