Welcome to a New Year of Collaborations, Partnerships and Innovations at Mbarara University of Science and Technology!
Blessings to you all in the New Year 2024!
As the new year unfolds, I reach out to extend a warm welcome to our esteemed faculty, dedicated staff, and eager students of Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). As we start the new year, let us collectively embark on more research, innovation, and unwavering pursuit of knowledge, alongside our valuable partners and collaborators.
In the past, our research endeavors have yielded groundbreaking innovations/discoveries that promise to shape the future, often hand-in-hand with our trusted partners both international and national.
As we celebrate the triumphs of the past, let us also turn our gaze toward the vast horizon of possibilities that lies ahead especially in teaching and learning, grant writing, research and innovations, and promotion of the Science and Technology in our community. This new year, we must embark on:
Partner academic institutions: We will continue to forge strategic partnerships with leading universities across the globe, fostering cross-cultural exchange, joint research initiatives, student exchange programs, ensuring that our students learn from diverse perspectives and contribute to a global knowledge network.
Industry partnerships: We will strengthen our ties with businesses and organizations, bridging the gap between academia and the real world. This will create invaluable internship opportunities for our students, help us tailor our curriculum toward emerging industry needs, and ensure that our research results translate into tangible solutions for the betterment of society.
Government agencies: We are grateful to the unwavering support from the Government of Uganda, under the leadership of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the first lady and Minister of Education and sports, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni, Cabinet Ministers, and Members of Parliament. We will collaborate with government agencies to address critical national challenges, contribute to policy development, and leverage their resources to amplify our impact.
Local communities: We will remain a beacon of knowledge and support for the communities surrounding us, offering outreach programs, engaging in collaborative research projects, and ensuring that the benefits of higher education extend beyond the university walls.
The student body: Welcome back! Embrace the chance to dive deeper into your chosen fields, collaborating with peers and mentors from diverse backgrounds, and making lasting connections that will shape your future. Success in your Examinations which starts on January 5, 2024
And to the dedicated faculty, non-teaching staff, partners, and collaborators: I express my deepest gratitude to you all. Your unwavering commitment, expertise, and shared vision are the engines that drive MUST forward.
Together, let us write a new chapter in the MUST journey, biased towards innovation, collaboration, and unwavering pursuit of knowledge. May this year be one of transformative learning, groundbreaking discoveries, and meaningful connections, strengthened by the power of teamwork and shared expertise.
