MUST Faculty of Medicine Shines at the Annual Medical Quiz
The Faculty of Medicine at Mbarara University of Science and Technology emerged the overall second best medical school in the recently concluded national medical quiz competitions which took place at Busitema University from 22nd to 23rd January 2022.
Organized by the Federation of Uganda Medical Students Associations (FUMSA), the annual medical quiz is aimed at developing technical competence and clinical problem-solving skills among medical students in Uganda. In addition, the quiz acts as a healthy competition to foster cooperation among medical students for future collaborative and better health care delivery during practice.
This year’s medical quiz competition saw participants from 7 medical schools, and MUST’s strong performance was just 2 points behind the eventual winner, Makerere University. The MUST team was led by Elvis Tamale, a final year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) student who also serves as the President of Mbarara University Medical Students Association (MBUMSA).
This was MUST’s best ever showing at this quiz competition and 2 of MUST’s MBChB students Kiirya Tevin Walter MBChB V and Ssenyonga Edgar Reagan MBChB II were selected as part of the team that will represent Uganda in the East African medical quiz due to take place early this year ,venue and country to be decided about soon.
