MUST Convocation run

On Febuary 21, 2024, Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) broke new ground with its first-ever Convocation Run, a vibrant event that brought together alumni, well-wishers, and the graduating class of 2024. This innovative initiative aimed to foster a stronger sense of community, welcome new graduates, and generate support for future convocation activities.

The run kicked off with energetic warm-ups led by Coach Ashiraf,Atugonza  featuring Zumba, Pilates, and aerobics. Participants were then flagged off at 8:46 am by none other than Prof. Asiimwe Frank Rubabinda, a distinguished alumnus from the MBChB 1991 cohort, serving as the Chief Runner. Dr. Umar Muhumuza, representing all past guild presidents, also joined the run, symbolizing the unity between past and present generations of MUST.

The University Management took an active role, with Assoc. Prof. Charles Tushabomwe-Kazooba participating wholeheartedly. His presence underscored the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of engagement with its alumni community.

The success of the event wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of the organizing committee, led by Mr. Solomon Agum. Overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, Mr. Agum expressed his gratitude to all participants, sponsors, and partners. “Organising this for the first time,” he remarked, “I am speechless about the support you have given us. We are even more committed to embarking on our projects to see MUST reach even greater heights.”
