The week-long activities ended with a medical outreach in Kanywamizi Health Centre III – Kabuyanda, Isingiro District, about 100km from Mbarara. The medical outreach took place on Friday 28th February, 2020 which was a rainy day. The persistent rains could not stop the MUST team from proceeding with the day’s activities as planned. Students from MBUPSA and Mbarara University Medical Students’ Association (MBUMSA) were copiously involved in the camp activities.

Prof. Robert Tamukong from the Department of Pharmacy, and Coordinator of the outreach exercise said the outreach aimed at giving back to the community, which badly needs the services. During the camp, several medical services were offered, including screening for hypertension, diabetes, and cervical cancer, HIV, as well as medical counseling and dispensing of essential medicines.

Out of the over 700 patients that were reviewed during the exercise, many were referred to higher level health facilities for follow-up care, while others were asked to return on Monday for further evaluation.
