Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) just took a major stride forward in its mission to drive national development through science, technology, and innovation! During a vibrant tour across southwestern Uganda focused on boosting these crucial fields, the Minister for Science, Technology, and Innovation, Honourable Monica Musenero, officially launched the MUST Holdings Limited Operational Manual.
The Minister unveiled the detailed manual, a significant moment witnessed by MUST’s Vice Chancellor, Professor Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, who presented the document. According to Dr. Medard Twinamasiko, Director of the Centre for Technology Transfer, this manual is set to streamline the commercialization of university innovations, provide a clear framework for managing MUST’s business ventures, guide the operational activities of MUST Holdings Limited. He added that it intends  to provide a clear and comprehensive framework for how MUST Holdings Limited will operate.
Essentially, it’s the blueprint for how MUST Holdings Limited will function effectively and achieve its objectives in supporting the University’s mission.
Prior to the launch, the Minister had the opportunity to tour a fascinating array of over 40 projects showcased by community innovators, bright students from various institutions, and dedicated staff from different universities. These inspiring innovations directly tackled community challenges, highlighting the incredible potential brewing in the region.
Professor Byakika Kibwika expressed her sincere gratitude to all the exhibitors for their enthusiastic participation and extended a special thank you to Minister Musenero for her invaluable time and unwavering support.
