MUST STRENGTHENS PARTNERSHIP WITH POWIŚLAŃSKI UNIVERSITY IN POLAND 

With the aim of strengthening internationalisation, MUST hosted a top-notch team from Powislanski University, Poland led by the Rector Prof. Katarzyna Strzala-Osuch from 19th to 22nd February 2024. The other members of the delegation were Dr Hab. Tomasz Bojar-Fijałkowski the Senate Representative for social and environmental responsibility, Mgr Patrycja Osińska the Head of the Project’s Officer and Mgr Daniel Osuch the Director of Infrastructure.

Prof. Celestino Obua, the Vice Chancellor of MUST welcomed the guests and appreciated their efforts in advancing the partnership. The meeting that deliberated about strengthening the partnership between the two universities highlighted different areas such as mobilities, online teaching and undertaking joint programmes to further the relationship. Other MUST staff in attendance were; Assoc. Prof. Charles Tushabomwe Kazooba- the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Finance and Administration and Dr. Kule Bagume- the Deputy Dean Faculty of Business and Management Sciences (FMBS), Mr. Godfrey Bwireh a Lecturer in FBMS and Ms. Sheila Niinye Twinamatsiko the International Relations Officer. Other networking engagement meetings were held with Prof. Nixon Kamukama, the Deputy Vice Chancellor in charge of Academic Affairs, Prof. Julius Lejju the Dean Faculty of Science (FOS), Faculty of Business and Management Science leadership and Nursing Department. Prof. Katarzyna Strzala – Osuch delivered a guest lecture on man and environment while Dr hab. Tomasz Bojar-Fijałkowski delivered one on climate and environmental challenges.

The fruitful visit opened opportunities for more mobility of staff and students, shared online courses in the Nursing Department under Faculty of Medicine, research opportunities in FOS and joint programmes in for business and economics studies. MUST is in partnership with Powislansiki University since 2022 when they won an Erasmus + project for staff and student exchanges under the Faculty of Business and Management Sciences.
