MUST/MRRH Launch Urology Unit

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) and Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital (MRRH) launched their pioneer Urology clinic on 15th March 2021. The clinic is located within the premises of Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital comprises 9 beds, a tutorial room, a minor procedure room and an office .

The set up of the facility has been a collaborative effort between the university, MRRH, Prof. Judith Goh of Health and Development Aid Abroad- Australia and Prof. Ericah Janszen of Stitching Tilly- Netherlands.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs, Prof. Nixon Kamukama presided over the launch accompanied by The MRRH Director, Dr. Celestine Barigye; The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine MUST, Dr. Joseph Ngonzi; The pioneer urologist at MUST, Prof. Elichum Mutakooha and Dr. Marvin Mutakooha, a urologist at MUST who also spearheaded and coordinated the set up of the facility. The function was also attended by a number of clinical and administrative staff from MUST  and MRRH.

As part of the clinic’s activities, a Urology camp, to run every Friday, has been organised to support 70 urological patients for their operations, medication and  post operative care.
