MUST hosts a stakeholders meeting to operationalize the Mbarara Regional Cancer Centre

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) hosted a stakeholders meeting for the full operationalization of the Mbarara Regional Cancer Centre on 09th July 2019. The key partners are MUST, Mbarara Regional Referral Centre (MRRH), Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) and MGH- Global Health Collaboration. The leaders of all the stakeholders together with their staff had good deliberations strategising for the Centre to become a reality. In attendance was Prof. Celestino Obua the VC of MUST, Dr. Jackson Orem the Executive Director of UCI, Dr. Francis Oriokot the Deputy Director of MRRH and Dr. Stephen Asiimwe the Director of MGH-Global Health Collaboration. The Centre will be built in Mbarara town on land that was graciously given by MUST. The center is hoped to increase medical access to cancer patients and increase awareness in the southwestern region and beyond. Cancer requires concerted effort to fight it.
