 MUST history made! All Speeches from the 32nd Graduation Ceremony

The Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) 32nd Graduation Ceremony, held on 25 October at the Kihumuro Campus Grounds, was a monumental occasion marked by a historic Chancellor installation and inspiring addresses that set the tone for the University’s future.

I am proud to share the day’s most  speeches, offering an invaluable record for our graduates, alumni, and partners.

1. Installation of the 5th Chancellor: Prof. Jack H. Pen-Mogi Nyeko

The ceremony began with the official installation of Professor Jack H. Pen-Mogi Nyeko as the 5th Chancellor of MUST. This moment of tradition and dignity was celebrated by the University Council and the distinguished guests.

The installation was presided over by the Hon. Major Jim Muhwezi, Minister of Security, representing the Visitor, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

2. Address by the Vice Chancellor: Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika

The Vice Chancellor’s address provided a comprehensive overview of the University’s achievements, highlighted key challenges, and outlined the strategic direction for research, innovation, and infrastructure development. This was Prof. Byakika-Kibwika’s first graduation ceremony presided over by her in this capacity.

3. Address by the Representative of the Visitor

The address delivered on behalf of the Visitor, H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, by the Hon. Major Jim Muhwezi, focused on the Government’s commitment to supporting science and technology education as a driver for national socio-economic transformation.

4. Address by the Chairperson of the University Council: Dr. Warren Naamara

The Chairman of the Council’s speech emphasized the role of the Council in governance and provided counsel to the graduating class. Dr. Warren Naamara highlighted the importance of accountability and strategic partnership in achieving the University’s mandate.
