What is HEAC?
HEAC is an academic programme designed as a remedial programme for students who do not meet the minimum requirements for admission to degree or diploma programmes to make up for deficiency in their grades. It is approved by National Council for Higher Education as a level 4 qualification under the Qualifications Framework.
Who qualifies for HEAC?
Students who hold a Uganda Advance Certificate of Education (UACE) with 1 principal pass or 2 subsidiary passes in the relevant subjects i.e. Biology and Chemistry or Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry and Mathematics.
What can I do after HEAC?
Holders of HEAC are eligible to apply to be considered for admission to degree and diploma programmes. The decision on admission will be based on performance in HEAC and specific admission requirements for programme applied to.
What is the duration of HEAC?
HEAC is taught over 2 semesters or 1 academic year which is normally 34 weeks.
If I complete HEAC at MUST, can I apply to any university in Uganda?
Yes, holders of HEAC are eligible to apply to any university in Uganda. It should be noted that each university has policies and guidelines that govern admission of students. The decisions on admissions are based on available places and the general performance of all candidates that have applied
What disciplines does MUST offer for HEAC?
MUST offers HEAC with three disciplines i.e. Biology and Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry and Mathematics.
Is HEAC a terminus or exit qualification?
HEAC is not a terminus or exit qualification.
