H.E Musa Kiyemba is the 35th Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

H.E Musa Kiyemba was voted, the 35th Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Musa is a 4th medical student perusing a Bachelor’s in medicine and a Bachelor’s of surgery.

Background

Hwas born in Katente village, Nkokonjeru in Kayunga to Mr. Mukasa Sowed Sserinyina and Mrs  Komugisha  Christine. For his education, Musa went to Mbarara Central primary school, then made it to Ntare School, one of Uganda’s top schools. This was for both his Ordinary level and his Advanced level.

Leadership has been part of Musa’s life story:

He was a Head boy and Deputy in his primary school, a Junior Welfare Minister at Ntare School (O ‘level), and a Senior Welfare minister at the same School (A level).

While at MUST:

  1. In 2021/2022 he was the GRC Gents’ Flat.
  2. 2021/2022 Secretary-General for Mbarara University Government-sponsored Students’ Association
  3. 2022/2023 President for Mbarara University Muslim Students’ Association.
  4. 2022/2023 President of Mbarara District Muslim Students’ Association.
  5. 2023/2024 the 35th Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology

Musa is well known for his unexampled personality of socializing with everyone. It is no surprise that he won the Guild President seat. His personality goes well with the saying from a famous author Kenneth Blanchard, “The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority”. Musa has influences we trust will make him a good leader.  We at MUST wish him the best of luck in his team of office.

H.E.  Kankiriho Arinda Daisy, the 35th Vice Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. H.E.  Kankiriho Arinda Daisy was appointed the 35th Vice Guild President of Mbarara University of Science and Technology. Daisy is a 1st year Engineering student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Background

She was born in Rushere, Kiruhura district to the Late Brig. Patrick Kankiriho and Mrs. Deborah Kankiriho.

She went to Greenhill Academy pre-primary school to primary five. She later joined Kampala Parents’ School for primary six to primary seven. Her good grades led her to King’s College Buddo one of the top schools in Uganda, this was for her Ordinary level she later joined Vienna College Namugongo for her Advanced level.

Daisy has held various leadership positions such as the Head Girl at Kampala Parents School, Secretary for the Aviation Club, Class Representative of the Junior Debate, the speaker of the junior debate club, Vice President of Water and Sanitation Club, Vice President of the Cancer Club at king college Buddo.

While at MUST, she is the Vice President of Civil Engineering (CVE) Class, Prayer Secretary at St. Luke’s Chapel, GRC, CVE, and serves on the Kihumuro ladies’ hall committee as the Organizing Secretary.

Daisy’s enviable personality of people relations has positioned her to hold a number of leadership positions at MUST. This is not any different from what John Maxwell says “Leaders must be close enough to relate to others, but far enough ahead to motivate them”. Congratulations Daisy.

The Rt. Hon. Anyine Jonathan, the 35th Guild Speaker of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Background

Jonathan is a 2nd year student perusing a Bachelor of Pharmacy. He was born in Kitagata village to Mr. Tuhiriirwe David and Mrs. Tumwebaze Jackie Tuhiriirwe. He went to Bweranyangyi Primary School and later Bushenyi Parents School. For his secondary school, Jonathan went to Ntare School and Namilyango College. (two great schools in Uganda).

Helen Keller said: Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Jonathan has worked with others before and this has exposed him to leadership positions such as The prayer secretary and vice president Music Dance and Drama Club at Ntare School in 2017. While at Namilyango College, he was the Students’ Council Publicity Secretary, General Secretary of Youth Alive, and Treasurer of the Entertainment Committee.

While at MUST, Jonathan has been a leader in the 33rd Guild Government as a Chief Fresher, the 34th Guild Government as a GRC Secretary, the MUST Peer Project, HIP ROAR, Bwera_Ntare, NgoNga, Rotaract, MBUPSA, UPSA, Kelele Poetry Association, Innovation Village Community and is the current GRC Pharmacy in the 35th Guild Government. Jonathan is also a member and Sergeant at Arms of Mbarara Toastmasters Club.

He is well known for his love for public Speech and poetry. His ambition and burning heart for selfless service are unique in his nature. Jonathan has a commendable personality of a great presentation.  Ken Blanchard said, “The greatest leaders mobilize others by coalescing people around a shared vision”. This is a true definition of Jonathan Anyine. congratulations upon his election as the 35th Guild Speaker, we look forward to your service for MUST.

Being a good leader is something you learn and perfect with diligence, compassion, persistence, and experience. True leadership is about striving to become better in all areas of life and empowering everyone around you to become the best versions of themselves. The 35th Guild government has leaders with a good background of leadership notwithstanding the background of top schools in Uganda. We trust and believe they are going to serve to the best of their ability, so help them God.
