Gave it their all: MUST 7th Council comes to and end

The MUST  7th council also referred to as the “Warren reign” finished its term of office. This started in 2019 under the leadership of Dr. Warren Naamara until the 23rd of June 2023. with high zeal, Dr. Warren defined the 7th council as the go-getters who worked tirelessly to see that MUST stands out. He mentioned that they pride in so many achievements that include: completing the Faculty of Computing and Informatics block, engaging students one on one won cases, and what stands out is the academic audit.

He further requested the Vice Chancellor to convey his gratitude to the MUST staff who have stood the hard times of budget cuts, highly qualified without promotion, “I cannot thank them enough for choosing to be understandable” said Dr. Warren

He thanked the different committees of the council that have embarked on engaging all stakeholders in their docket and above all always turning up for meetings.

It will be remembered that this is the first council that:

Officially took oaths of Allegiance and secrecy witnessed by the high court magistrate

The first council to have their profiles uploaded on the university website as a way of promoting MUST’s visibility

The first council to have chairs of committees recognized and published in the university graduation booklet

The first council to hold an event in recognition of the service.

“All this is attributed to the able leadership of the secretary to council Mr. Melchoir Byaruhanga and the entire secretariat team, the legal advisor Mugumya Timothy (Esq), and the Public Relations officer Ms. Angella Nakato for the events management,” said Dr. Warren

While giving his speech, Dr. Warren Naamara congratulated and thanked all the 7th University council members who worked so hard for the success of his reign. He said “We pride ourselves in academic audits, infrastructure development, winning court cases, and digitizing learning among others. Teamwork has made the 7th University Council notwithstanding the support from Academic staff, financial challenges, and engaging students.”

All the members of the 7th University Council were recognized and given certificates of appreciation for their great efforts and nice work.

Dr. Warren Naamara was recognized for his dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of the 7th University Council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Ms Sarah Nyachwo Mwaka was recorgnized for her dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of students’ welfare and disciplinary committee and vice chairperson of the 7th University council of Mbarara University of science and technology.

Mr. Moses Ogal Opio was appreciated for his dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of the finance, planning and development committee of the 7th university council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Stevens Kisaka was appreciated for his dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of the appointment board and also the chair of the legal, rules, and privileges committee of the 7th university council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Eng Kagoro Assiimwe was appreciated for his dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of the Estates and Works committee of the 7th university council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Prof. Celestino Obua was appreciated for his dedicated and committed service as a member of the 7th university council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Mr. Hannington Ashaba was recognized for dedicated and committed service as the Chairperson of the Audit and Risk Management Committee of the 7th Council of Mbarara University of Science and Technology

Ms. Angella Nakato Muyingo was recognised for dedicated and committed service in organising, cordinating and publicising all events of the 7th MUST Council.
