FOR REGIONAL NETWORK OF EXCELLENCE IN DAIRY TRAINING (EARNED) PROJECT IN UGANDA

Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies (FIS), Department of Environment and Livelihood Support Systems (DELSS) with its partners including Aeres Group, ICRA, WCDI, Hogeschool Van Hall Larenstein, and Bles Dairies as Dutch partners, and Federal TVETI, Ethiopia and Eldoret National Polytechnic, Kenya as East African Regional partners is implementing a two-year Nuffic funded EARNED project reference number OKP-EAR-104104 in Southwestern Uganda. The project is expected to improve institutional, organizational, and individual capacity to offer blended and practical training in dairy production, processing, and business in the East African Region (EAR) and the Netherlands (NL). This will create an inspirational learning and innovative environment to support existing curricula, deepen partnerships between education, private sector, government, and civil society in the EAR and NL, and provide a common platform to connect members interested in training at both formal (TVET) and informal (farmer, advisor) levels in the NL and EAR. To share experiences and lessons to be documented and used to improve the implementation of the remaining project activities, the project management is organizing an international partner exchange visit to Uganda scheduled from Saturday 3rd to Monday 10th, April 2022 in Southwestern and Central Uganda.

On the 5th day of the international exchange visit (Thursday, April 7th, 2022), a feedback workshop to promote national stakeholder, buy-in of the project approach and methodology in teaching agriculture in universities and agricultural colleges and training of farmers will be conducted at Kihumuro campus. The participants of the workshop include representatives from Ministry of Education and Sports (MoEs), Ministry of Agriculture Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF), National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC), Makerere University, Bukalasa Agricultural College, Entebbe Dairy Training School and dairy private sector players in Southwestern Uganda.
