Department of Physiotherapy trains sports and exercise science
MUST Department of Physiotherapy held a training in sport and exercise science in collaboration with Canada Uganda Sports Exercise Medicine (CUSEM) from 10th to 12th May 2022. The training was attended by 29 final year physiotherapists students, 4 medical students and 5 physiotherapists. The focus was on providing education and practical hands-on sessions in regard to current sports medicine practices. Going forward, CUSEM team will annually train people involved in rehabilitating sports injuries at MUST such as doctors, physiotherapists, coaches of teams and trainers and final students. Training final students will increase their competence as they move out to serve the community.
In the country, CUSEM aims at building capacity in sport and exercise science and; enhancing health and wellness for sports persons and patients. The other major focus is advancing the link between sports federations and medical training institutions to get the right people to treat sports injuries.
