Mbarara University of Science and Technology’s (MUST) Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) continues to be a catalyst for groundbreaking innovations. The latest success story emerges from the realm of pharmaceutical sciences, with the approval of “DERMARLIC Tincture” by the National Drug Authority (NDA).
A Collaborative Effort
The development of DERMARLIC Tincture is a testament to the collaborative spirit at MUST. Mr. Kagimu Braize Ben, a postgraduate student, and Mr. Anyole Arthur Amule, both alumni of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, spearheaded this innovative project. Their efforts were guided by the expert mentorship of Dr. Jonans Tusiimire.
CITT’s Role in Innovation
The CITT played a pivotal role in bringing this innovation to life by providing funding and support. The project was funded by CITT (Q1-2023/34) and is currently being produced at PHARMBIOTRAC, a state-of-the-art facility at MUST.
A Bright Future for DERMARLIC Tincture
With NDA approval, DERMARLIC Tincture is poised to make a significant impact on healthcare. This innovative product represents a major milestone for MUST and its CITT, solidifying the institution’s commitment to research, innovation, and societal impact.
As MUST continues to foster a culture of innovation, we can anticipate more groundbreaking developments emerging from the CITT and its talented researchers.
