Call for Applications- Master of Public Health (Research Ethics)

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for a Master of Public Health programme with a focus on Research Ethics, offered at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), Department of Community Health, Faculty of Medicine. The programme has three (3) available scholarships sponsored by The Mbarara University Research Ethics Education Program (MUREEP) with funding from Fogarty International Centre – National Institutes of Health (USA).

Course Duration: 2 YEARS

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
a) Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) or its equivalent with at least 5 passes obtained at the same sitting.
b) Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) or its equivalent with at least 2 principal passes obtained at the same sitting.
c) An Honors degree from an accredited degree awarding institution in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.8.
d) Targeted applicants should have previous training in at least one of these areas: Health Sciences, Biological

FEES STRUCTURE
Ugandans

  • Application fees Ug. Shs. 50,000/=
  • Tuition fees Ug. Shs. 1,750,000/= per semester
  • Functional fees Ug. Shs. 1,270,000/= per annum

International Students

  • Application fees Ug. Shs. 100,000/=
  • Tuition Ug. Shs. 3,500,000/= per semester
  • Functional fees Ug. Shs. 2,540,000/= per annum

SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS
MUREEP will provide 3 scholarships on a competitive basis for staff of Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Bishop Stuart University, Kabale University, Kampala International University and other individuals involved in Research. Females and those engaged in research ethics are encouraged to apply.

Scholarship support shall be provided to selected students (MPH – Research Ethics) for up to 2 years. Renewal of financial support for the second year of study will be dependent upon successful completion of the previous year with written evidence of satisfactory progress received from the student’s immediate supervisor.

HOW TO APPLY
1. Interested applicants should pick application forms from and return them to the Directorate of Research and Graduate Training or apply online at: https://applications.must.ac.ug/

2. Submit a motivation letter indicating why you are interested in pursuing the course.

3. Submit a 2-page concept paper of a proposed research topic in the field of Research Ethics. The concept paper should have the following structure:

  • Background
  • Objectives
  • Problem Statement
  • Proposed methods
  • Significance
  • References

4. Submit an up-to-date CV (maximum 2 pages) with two referees

5. In addition to hard copies, email soft copies of motivation letter, concept paper and CV to mureep@must.ac.ug
