Succeed We Must

 Interfaculty Creativity and Innovation Challenge 2025

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) came alive with the first ever edition of ideas, inventions, and inspiration during the Interfaculty Creativity and Innovation Challenge , an exciting initiative by the Guild Ministry of Education and Professional Affairs, in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT).

The ceremony was held on 3rd October  2025 with the Vice Chancellor Professor Pauline Byakika-Kibwika being the guest of honor and was presided over by the director CITT Dr.Medard Twinamatsiko with the guild Minister of education Namuyiga Fildaus.

This initiative was a milestone for the students guild and the must community at large  that aims to promote inclusivity and equal participation across all faculties, empowering every student to explore their creativity and contribute innovative solutions to real-world challenges.

The guild minister of education Hon.Namuyiga Fildaus appreciated all the participants,judges, the organising committee, CITT and the students guild. She  was proud,happy and relieved that her idea of inclusivity was achieved .

The director CITT Dr.Medard Twinamatsiko informed the innovators and student body that were watching online that “Society is crept with  alot of problems and if we don’t think and innovate then society will blame us that we had brain but we did not think, he further said that what will the society remember about you as a person? And he gave an example of Alexander Graham who invented a phone in 1879 which is a legacy which  will forever be an inspiration.He also further ensured  the students that CITT and MUST will forever be there for them.

The vice Chancellor Professor Pauline Byakika-Kibwika who was invited by the director CITT Dr.Medard Twinamatsiko  emphasized and advised not to only study theoretical knowledge but also practical knowledge because the world has already far moved from only theoretical ideas. She then proceeded to awarding the winners and Runners up where they would briefly explain their innovation ideas.

The faculty of computing and informatics emerged as the winners with their project named grow safe ,the first runners up were the faculty of science with their project named Avocado Oil and the second runners up were the faculty of Interdisciplinary students with their project name Smart feeds.

The event showcased the brilliance, diversity, and ingenuity of MUST students – proving that innovation knows no faculty boundaries. The event is on YouTube for those that might have missed out.

 A big thank you to all participants, judges , and partners who made this event a success. Together, we continue to nurture a culture of innovation at MUST – where every idea matters, and every student counts.
