27th Graduation Ceremony

Mbarara University of Science and Technology held its 27th Graduation Ceremony on 24th April 2021 at its main campus at Kihumuro, Mbarara City. The ceremony was presided over by the university’s Chancellor Prof. Charles Mark Lwanga Olweny.

The Guest of Honor was Hon. Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, State Minister for Health (Primary Health Care) who represented the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Celestino Obua, in his remarks thanked and recognized the parents of the graduands who sacrificed to see the day come through. He also recognized and appreciated the work done by the Mbarara University of Science and Technology/ Mbarara Regional Hospital COVID-19 task force that played a crucial role in managing the COVID-19 pandemic in Mbarara. The team later received medals from the Guest of Honor in honor of their contribution

The Chancellor, Prof.  Olweny, in his speech took pride in the increasing number of graduands. He also commended the university’s continued role in teaching, research and community engagement.

Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu expressed her gratitude at being a product of MUST, she also delivered the remarks of the Minister of Education and Sports, Hon. Janet Museveni, who congratulated the graduands on their achievement despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. She also challenged graduands to create but not look for jobs.

A total of 1,269 graduands received degrees and diplomas including, 24 PhDs, 153 Masters, 1035 bachelor’s degrees and 57 diplomas.
