The department of Information Technology was formed in 2010 with focus on both theoretical and practical aspects and advancements in technology. The key areas of research in the department emanate from Information Communication Technology for development (ICT4D) or development Informatics.
The department offers an Undergraduate course in Information technology leading to a Bachelors degree. The course was started in 2006 aiming at training students to become ICT professionals in any field. The course focuses on the breadth of understanding needed to communicate between technical experts and users, thus assisting the latter to use information technology more effectively. It aims at providing graduates with the intellectual tools and practical experience to enable them to act as bridges between computers and computer users.
