Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) has been officially recognized by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), taking home the coveted Platinum Award for the Public Sector Office category at the 2025 URA Taxpayer Recognition Awards Ceremony.
The prestigious event was held on November 21, 2025, at the URA offices in Kampala, celebrating institutions that demonstrate exemplary commitment to national development through compliance.
MUST’s delegation was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic Affairs Prof. Nixon Kamukama who travelled with Accounting Officer, Mr. Vincent Kansiime Kwantampora, University Bursar, CPA. Felix Magyezi and the deputy bursar Dr. Paul Turyaheebwa
The nomination citation recognized MUST as an accredited public institution committed to national development through both academic excellence and exemplary tax compliance. The University was specifically acknowledged for its mission to deliver quality, relevant education with a focus on science, technology, and community transformation.
MUST emerged as the best in the public sector for its outstanding Compliance in Filing Returns and Paying Taxes in Time. This award reaffirms the University’s dedication not only to its academic mandate but also to its fiscal responsibility to the nation.
Leadership Commends Diligence

Upon the team’s return, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Pauline Byakika-Kibwika, extended her warmest congratulations and gratitude.
