MUST welcomes new students for the 2025/2026 Academic Year

The week of August 4-8, 2025, was a vibrant one at Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) as the institution welcomed new students for the 2025/2026 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students reported for registration, marking the beginning of their academic journeys.

Registration was a busy but well-organized process, with new students registering at both the City Campus and the Kihumuro Campus. In a show of the university’s expanding reach, registration also took place at affiliated campuses, including the Uganda Institute of Allied Health and Management Sciences (UIAHMS) in Mulago and the Jinja School of Nursing and Midwifery.

According to the Academic Registrar’s office, the university saw a large number of applicants this year:

A total of 6,474 students applied for various programs.

Of these, 5,490 were undergraduates and 984 were postgraduates.

The admissions process was competitive, with a significant number of qualified students being accepted:

Finance Department was well represented

A total of 4,212 students were admitted.

This included 3,546 undergraduates and 666 postgraduates.

As of August 8, 2025, the university reported that 1,313 students had successfully registered. This figure included 1,221 undergraduates and 92 postgraduates.
