The Surgical Airway: Cricothyroidotomy Vs Tracheostomy; Indications and routine care – Grand round

Overview:
This grand round session will focus on the surgical airway- cricothyroidotomy Vs tracheostomy; indications and routine care. It will be led by Dr. Ruth Miriam Kagere an Assistant Lecturer in the Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) Department at Mbarara University of Science and Technology(MUST). She also runs ENT services at Mbarara Regional Referral hospital(MRRH).

Tracheostomy and cricothyroidotomy are surgical airway procedures performed commonly to bypass upper airway obstruction. These procedures share a similar purpose although differ significantly in indication, techniques and applications in clinical practice.
