Mentorship of Scholars: Empowering Academic Success and Career Growth

Wisdom Project Supporting Refugee Students
Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST), through the WISDOM Project, will host a scholars’ mentorship workshop on 11th April 2026. This initiative is designed to strengthen academic, career, and psychosocial support for refugee students at MUST and to foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The mentorship programme seeks to connect students with academic staff and senior students who will provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support throughout their academic journey. Through structured mentorship relationships, the programme aims to enhance student success, promote wellbeing, and expand professional and academic networks.

The one-day workshop, titled “Empowering Your Journey: Mentorship for Academic Success and Career Growth,” will bring together refugee students, mentors, student leaders, and project members. Participants will engage in discussions on understanding mentorship, strategies for academic success, psychosocial support, mentorship roles and responsibilities, and approaches to maximising mentorship outcomes.

This project coordinated by Ms. Sheila Niinye Twinamatsiko the International Relations Officer contributes to strengthening inclusive education at MUST while supporting refugee and migrant scholars under the WISDOM Project to thrive academically, professionally, and personally.
