Global Emergency Care Collaboration (GECC)

GECC runs a two-year, emergency medicine training program for non-physician clinicians, in collaboration with local and national institutions. The Emergency Care Practitioner (ECP) program is designed to teach symptoms based emergency medicine to educate strong clinicians, as well as teach clinicians how to be quality educators to train the incoming classes. GECC collaborates with MUST on epidemiology, resource utilization and Outcome of Emergency Departments and Training Needs of Emergency Care Providers in Uganda. The collaboration aimed at training emergency care health workers and building equitable emergency care systems in Uganda and beyond. This collaboration  creates a new specialist physician for Uganda, the Emergency Physician, who are able to work in and supervise ECPs in national and regional referral EDs, and function as educators and quality supervisors for district ECP staffed EDs. GEC is an active partner and participant and funder of this program.
