Victory for MUST: Pharmacy Students Sweep National Symposium Awards

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) is celebrating a triumphant weekend following the National Pharmacy Students’ Symposium held at Makerere University from April 17th to 19th, 2026. Under the theme “Building Resilient Systems Through Pharmacy Innovations and Local Manufacturing,” our students proved their mettle by emerging as the National Quiz Champions and securing the Best Research Presentation award.

Hot seat: L-R:  Ndaula Kissajja Joshua , Okello Allan Mugisha and Mulindwa Andrew.

Behind:  Upholding Academic Integrity: To maintain the highest standards of fairness, the competition was strictly monitored by a Quiz Steward. Stringent measures were enforced to ensure that all competitors relied solely on their knowledge and expertise, with a zero-tolerance policy toward the use of AI or any external digital assistance. This ensured that the victory by our MBUPSA team was a true reflection of their intellectual rigor and deep understanding of the pharmaceutical field.

Quiz master takes on the two teams.

A Word from the MBUPSA President

“This victory is a testament to the sleepless nights, the rigorous training, and the unwavering spirit of the Mbarara University Pharmacy Students’ Association (MBUPSA). Competing against the brightest minds from Makerere, KIU, Busitema, Gulu, and Victoria University was no small feat. Our team—led by Joshua Ndaula, Allan Okello, Mulindwa Sserugunda, Matovu Shafik, and Katusiime Diane demonstrated exceptional mastery in Pharmacology, Global Health, and Drug Regulation.

We did not  just go there to participate; we went to show that MUST is a hub of excellence. I am incredibly proud of every member of the association for their support and for keeping our banner flying high.”

Bwambale Gideon, President, MBUPSA
