The National Conference on Communications (NCC), established by the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) in 2010, is a premier platform that brings together academia, industry, and policymakers from Uganda and across the region. The conference promotes communications research with a strong emphasis on locally relevant and impactful solutions.
NCC provides students, researchers, application developers, and industry practitioners with a unique opportunity to identify emerging research challenges, share innovative solutions, and engage in meaningful discussions on issues shaping the communications sector, particularly in developing country contexts such as Uganda.
The 10th National Conference on Communications (NCC 2026) will be hosted by the College of Engineering, Design, Art and Technology (CEDAT), Makerere University, and will take place from 24th to 26th June 2026 at Makerere University.
As part of the pre-conference activities, the organizers are mandated to conduct a Publishing Masterclass Series, aimed at equipping students and early-career researchers with essential skills in scientific research and academic writing. The series includes practical sessions, such as hands-on training in LaTeX and other tools for preparing high-quality scientific manuscripts. These sessions are designed to support participants in developing publishable work for submission to NCC and other conferences and journals.
The masterclasses will be facilitated by experienced senior researchers and delivered through in-person sessions at Makerere University, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Busitema University, Kyambogo University, and Soroti University. An additional online session will be held to ensure broader participation.
At Mbarara University of Science and Technology the Publication Masterclass workshop will be held on 24th April-2026 Facilitated by Dr Edwin Mugume and Dr Adones Rukundo. The workshop is designed to equip participants with essential skills in writing high-quality scientific articles and navigating the publication process effectively. We will cover key areas such as structuring research papers, improving academic writing, selecting appropriate journals, and responding to peer reviews. It presents a valuable opportunity for our students to strengthen their research output and increase their chances of successful publication.
