Mbarara University Medical Students’ Association (MBUMSA) and the Students’ Guild are excited to announce the Mbarara University Awareness Run against Drug Abuse and a fun gala, scheduled for 21st of September 2024 at the MUST town campus pitch.
This event aims to tackle the rising concern of drug abuse, among young people particularly University students. The primary goals of the campaign starting with a run are to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse, promote healthier, drug-free life styles, and offer support and counseling to those in need.
The event will feature physical activities, healthy screenings, and opportunities for students and young people to engage with health professionals.
The run is just the start of a massive campaign spearheaded by the young people who are the most affected to get long lasting solutions for this great evil called drug abuse. Post run initiatives and activities include the launch of peer support groups in the university and community, collaboration with counseling services, advocating for policies guarding young people from drug abuse, massive community outreach such as secondary schools in the region and seminars to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse .
This event is a meaningful opportunity for students, university staff, and the wider community to come together and take a stand against Drug Abuse. Come participate and support the cause as we take strong strides against Drug abuse.
