Assessing levels of physical preparation of pregnant women for normal labour and delivery. Nabbosa M and Masanja H.C
Abstract
The objective of this study was to find out the extent to which pregnant women in the study area were physically prepared for normal delivery. A descriptivive cross- sectionsl survey was carried out at Mbarara University Teaching Hospital Bwizibweera Health Centre and Ibanda Hospital. The total number of respondents in this resaerch was 296 of which 280 were pregnannt women 13 were midwives and 3 were in charge of antenatal clinics.Pregnant women who had attended for the first time were left out of the study. During the maternal child health clinics pregnant women had learnt preparation of delivery kit and importance of delivery at a health facility 50% diet during pregnancy 22%, control of infections 13.9% and 13.5% had lerant signs of labour and importance of attendance of antenatal clinics. None of them mentioned essential exercise in preparation for labour and delivery.
