MUST Hosts 1st cross country championship
Mbarara University of Science and Technology scooped bronze during the just concluded East African Universities cross country championship that took place at Mbarara Golf Course on Saturday, 27th February 2010.
The bronze was won by the men’s team . Speaking at the event, the President of the East African Universities Sports Federation Jacob Otere said the cross country championship would become an annual event.
Representing the State Minister for Education in charge of Sports, the Commissioner Physical Education and Sports Tamwesigire called upon universities to integrate sports as a national program. He said active sports within the East African countries would strengthen the spirit of East African Community.
Universities that took part in the cross country championship from Uganda include Makerere University, Uganda Christian University, Nkumba University, Kampala International University, Gulu University, Kyambogo University, Lugazi University, and Bishop Stuart University.
Moi University from Kenya and Umatala Polytechnique from Rwanda also participated. The event was hosted by Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
