MUST wins ACIA Awards

It was yet another memorable experience as a team from Mbarara University of Science and Technology -Institute of Computer Science participated and won  the National competitions that were held at Sheraton Hotel on the 22nd May 2015. The awards are known as the ACIA awards organized by Uganda Communications Commission (UCC).  This was the fourth iteration of the awards and it is the first time a  team from Western Uganda has made it to this level.

Makerere University sends off Prof. Celestino Obua

Prof. Celestino Obua, the Mbarara University of Science and Technology Vice Chancellor was on March Friday 20, 2015 hosted to a grand send off ceremony at the Makerere College of Health Sciences quadrangle at the Mulago Hospital Complex. Prof. Obua was for the last four years before moving to MUST, Deputy Principal of the College of Health Sciences. The evening function was well attended by staff and college students. The Vice Chancellor of Makerere Prof. John Ddumba Sentamu also attended and in his remarks wished prof.

Students celebrate Cultural Fete

MUST students celebrated a cultural gala on Saturday 14th March 2015 at the university. The festival organised by the Students' Guild provided a platform where 10 Ugandana cultural associations showcased their music, dance and drama tradtions. 

The competition was won by the Buganda cultural group.

MUST collaborates with Somali International University

MUST and the Somali International University (SIU) have began a collaborative effort aimed at making medical students of SIU more competitive within the African region.

This, at a signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two universities on 18th March 2015 at MUST. MUST was represented by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Celetino Obua while the President of SIU, Prof. Yahye Ali Ibrahim signed on behalf of the visitors.

The Memorandum of Understanding covers the following areas;

Forces Train in ICT Skills

A total of 70 security personnel were recently passed out after undergoing a 7 week ICT skills training course at the Institute of Computer Science, MUST. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Celestino Obua presided over the ceremony where 25 officers and men were from the Uganda Peoples Defence Forces (UPDF), 15 from the Uganda Prisons Service and 30 from the Uganda Police Force.

They underwent training in Basic Computer applications, internet technologies, database management, computer security and basic troubleshooting skills.
