Following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between MUST and University of Khartoum a memorable scoping visit took place on 5th September 2016. The Vice Chancellor of MUST, Prof. Celestino Obua met His Excellency Abdelbagi Hamdan Kabeir, the Ambassador of the Republic of Sudan to Uganda and Prof. Osheik Abu’Asha Seidi, Director of Scientific Research and Cultural Relations. The visitors interacted with the leadership of Faculty of Medicine and appreciated the university facilities.

MUST hosts Peace Corps volunteers

What a joy for MUST to receive the forth group of Peace Corps! Here they are again to serve MUST for one year till July 2017.  Peace corps is a United State of America (USA) international organisation that began its operations in 1961. It is a service opportunity for motivated change makers to engross themselves in a community beyond USA. The organization works with local leaders to tackle the most pressing challenges that currently affect society. Currently, over 60 countries are served by Peace Corps and 140 have been supported ever since Peace Corps began.

Students to Use Reference Numbers to Pay Fees

Mbarara University of Science and Technology recently intergrated its fees payment system with the following banks;

  1. Stanbic Bank Uganda
  2. Standard Chartered Bank
  3. Barclays Bank

Under the new arrangement, students now have the convenience to pay in any of three banks above.

For this, students shall have to provide a special Reference Number to the bank tellers for a fees payment to be successful.

The IRO works under the Vice Chancellor’s office to coordinate and sustain global relations, partnerships, collaborations and networks by closely working with the different faculties and institutes. This is geared towards increasing MUST excellence at the international scene.

The Office of the Academic Registrar Mbarara University of Science and Technology has released the admission list for the Private sponsored students for Undergraduate and Postgraduate programs for the academic year 2016/2017.

The World Bank Approves MUST as Eastern and Southern Africa Higher Education Center of Excellence

Mbarara University of Science and Technology is among universities that The World Bank Board has approved as the Eastern and Southern Africa Higher Education Centers of Excellence Project (ACE II).  Each of the 24 Africa Centers of Excellence (ACE) will be funded up to US$6 million over the project period of five years.

This is contained in a press release issued on 10th June 2016 in Kampala, Uganda.

The Students are off to the Community

Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST) continues to grow its flagship Philosophy of Community based education.

At the end of May 2016, Medicine, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Nursing, Lab Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Computing, Business, Science Education and Interdiscplinary students left the university to spend upto 2 months in different communities in South Western Uganda.

The Inaugural MUST Reproductive Health Research Conference

On 26th May 2016, the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at MUST, in collaboration wuth Vincent Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/ Harvard University successfully held the first Mbarara University Reproductive Health Research Conference. The theme of the conference was "Generating Local Knowledge for Local Change'.
