Bio-Diversity Conference held in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Every year since 2008, MUST’s Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation (ITFC) and the Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA)hold a research dissemination workshop together with conservation partners (Bwindi Trust, International Gorilla Conservation program, Greater Virunga Trans boundary Secretariat and others).

The workshop aims at aligning research findings relevant to the conservation of biodiversity in Bwindi and Mgahinga national parks. This year's workshop was held at ITFC’s headquarters at Ruhija in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park on the 27th November 2015, and was officially opened by the Vice Chancellor of MUST, Prof. Celestino Obua, who expressed happiness about the workshop’s  idea of making academic research relevant to UWA.

He advised that as a long time goal, it would be important for ITFC to design courses that churn out PhD and Masters students as a better way of building the capacity of Ugandans for future conservation of biodiversity. The Vice Chancellor attended almost the entire duration of the workshop giving very useful inputs to presenters and participants.
