Events at MUST

East Africa University Cross Country Championship

Mbarara University of Science and Technology in conjunction with the  East Africa University Sports Federation (EAUSF) and the National University Sports Federation of Uganda (NUSFU) will host the first  edition of East Africa University Cross Country Championship.

Supported by the Union of Africa University Sports Federation (FASU) the event has also attracted participants from the recently expanded East Africa Zone including Sudan, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, Somalia, Seyschelles and Comoros.

The event will take place on Saturday 27th February 2010 in Mbarara, Uganda. All teams are required to pay $60 participation fee.

Teams coming from far are expected to arrive on Thursday  25 February 2010. The rest are expected to arrive on Friday 26 February 2010.Depature dates 27 and 28 February 2010.

Please confirm your participation by 15 January 2010.We look forward to welcoming you at Mbarara University of Science and Technology.

Important Information for participants

Distance from Kampala to Mbarara 280 Km. The journey to Mbarara from Kampala by bus takes approximately 5 hours. You require $30 for the return journey.

Awards:

  • Individual- Top three individuals to recieve a medal for both categories.( Gold, Silver, Bronze)
  • Team awards- Top three teams recieve medals as well as trophies.

Technical regulations:

  • The course will be a 2-km grass circuit
  • Women will run 8km (4laps)
  • Men will run 12km (6laps)
  • Women team-min 3, max 5 and 3 will score
  • Men-Minimum4, Maximum 6 and 4 will score

Accreditation: All sports tutors are required to submit Athletes passport size photograph by 20 February 2010.Accreditation process will take place on Friday 26 Febuary 2010. Please NOTE  accreditation will be done upon payment of $60 participation fee.

Accomodation:  Modest and affordable accomodation between $15-$30 can be arranged on request. Please communicate early to make reservations.  

Health Facilities: A well equipped  Ambulance will be on stand by. Serious cases will be refered to the university teaching hospital.
