Call for Applications for Diploma and Master’s in Emergency Medicine

Emergency Medicine (EM) is an internationally recognised, rapidly expanding and stimulating specialty concentrated upon the urgent initial diagnosis and treatment of acute illness and injury. The Ugandan Ministry of Health (MoH) has prioritised the training and employment of Emergency Care Specialists in each referral and district Hospital as part of a comprehensive plan to improve Emergency Care for the nation. MoH has recognised that the initial management of accidents and emergencies needs to be supervised by Senior doctors and dedicated Emergency Practitioners to improve the outcome of the first few critical hours of a patient's Emergency treatment. MoH has a national plan to train, recruit and employ Emergency Medicine specialist staff in Hospital and Health Centre IV’s as part of a strategy to improve Emergency Care in Uganda.

The Diploma for Emergency Care Practitioner will have Nurses and Clinical Officers trained and equipped through a two year programme. The Master of Medicine in Emergency medicine provides students with exposure to a range of clinical experience, particularly in expert patient resuscitation.
