Mr. Emmanuel Kyagaba is the current Dean of Students at Mbarara University of Science and Technology. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Masters in Range Management. He has more than twenty years of experience in natural resource management as a trainer, researcher and community mobilization activities, diagnostic/analytical studies, project cycle management and consultancy.
Mr. Kyagaba has long experience in student affairs and services having served as Director of Studies in the then Veterinary Training Institute Entebbe where he taught forage agronomy. He later served as Dean of Students at Bukalasa Agricultural College where he was lecturer in Range Ecology before taking on his current appointment at MUST. Mr. Kyagaba is a published author of articles on pastoral production systems in the Journal of Nomadic Peoples and the African Pastoral Forum.
Besides his employment at MUST, he is a research associate with the Pastoral and Environment Network in the Horn of Africa (PENHA). He is also currently a board member with the International Association of Student Affairs and services (IASAS), where he is the current regional coordinator for Africa.
Having served with the youth for a long time, he picked more interest in youth health and is currently involved in research in the broader area of youth health care needs, where he is affiliated to Lund University – Division of Social Medicine and Global Health with specific interest in Youth Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (YSRHR). He also coordinates the HIV/AIDS Institutional Policy implementation activities as the institutional focal person. Other areas of scientific interest are in research ethics.
